I now have custody of my granddaughters and although the mother has no right to claim them on her taxes I know she will. Can I stop Her?
ReplyDeleteYou cannot stop her from claiming them, but you have the rights, so when the IRS sends you a notice that someone else claimed the children, you will do as the notice says, nothing. Make sure you have all the proof you need. She will get the same notice, and they will investigate and request proof from both of you. She will likely be in more legal trouble for claiming them.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you...hug those babies!
